Catherine Stanley is an Australian Artist working and living in Australia.
Exhibitions have included work in solo, group and invitation exhibitions interstate and overseas, in community festivals and residencies. My work incorporates a variety of media relating to exploration of the stories of people, environment and land.
I have taught a broad range of social groups from kindergarten to adults in structured and unstructured community and educational settings for over twenty years. Individual excellence in exploration, innovation, respect and personal expression is encouraged.
I hold a deep love of the earth and our connection to it.
Inspiration comes from the wonders of nature and the spiritual both external and internal.
Techniques of fibre and textiles include feltmaking, machine embroidery, weaving, basketry, dyeing, printing, painting, hand stitching and binding. Other processes of placement through installations, sculpture, grouping found objects and working with the direct environment. Silks, wools, fabric, natural and manmade found objects, wire thread, paper, recycling and symbolic manipulation of objects all encompass my selection of materials.
